Meet Kapil Sharma as `used-less` product in new ad

Kapil Sharma features in a unique avatar of an unused juicer in a kitchen, for a new television campaign for a online classifieds platform.

The quirky TVC uses the much-loved Kapil`s style of humour to tell the life story of unused products, which want to be sold on OLX in order to find owners who can use them. It touches upon people`s habit of stocking goods that are not being used.

Talking about the idea of roping in Kapil for it, Amarjit Batra, CEO, OLX.in, said in a statement: "Kapil Sharma personifies humour in India, and that resonates strongly with OLX`s style of messaging. The brand association between OLX and Kapil Sharma for this TVC was seamless as both have risen recently to become strong brand names that are loved by people and have become a part of their daily lives."

Conceived by advertising agency Lowe Lintas, the ad portrays Kapil as a juicer in the kitchen of a woman who has not used the juicer in years.

Kapil as the juicer, urges the woman to either use him or sell him off on OLX. On being tagged as `useless` by the owner, Kapil (as the juicer) retorts that in his current state, he is `used-less` and not `useless`.

"Since Kapil Sharma is hugely popular, our challenge was to ensure that he looks and sounds different in this TVC while retaining his core essence. So, we came up with the idea of Kapil as a product. The balance between Kapil Sharma the person, and Kapil Sharma the product was critical," said Shayondeep Pal, group creative director, Lowe Lintas.

Sunil Grover back as Gutthi on `Comedy Nights With Kapil`

After making a comeback to ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ as Kapil Sharma`s onscreen father-in-law, actor Sunil Grover will now be back in his drag act as the girl-next-door Gutthi.

The beloved character will return to the screen on the forthcoming weekend in the episode where Akshay Kumar would feature with his canine co-star Junior and actress Tammannaah Bhatia from the film ‘Entertainment’.

A source from the show`s team said: “Gutthi’s return on the episode featuring Akshay Kumar would be first announced by Gutthi’s friend Palak before Gutthi comes on stage. In the coming weeks, Sunil Grover will continue his Gutthi act as well as his new avatar as Kapil’s father-in-law."

Kapil Sharma first guest on Big B`s `KBC 8`

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will have comedian Kapil Sharma as his first guest on the season 8 of his hit game show `Kaun Banega Crorepati`.

Kapil will feature on the opening episode of the show, which will air from August 2 on Sony. The 71-year-old `Yudh` star shared the news in his blog.

"So episodes over, its rehearsals for the Surat show .. with some incomparable people like Kapil Sharma," he captioned a picture in his blog of `Comedy Nights with Kapil` star and himself from the show`s sets.

Bachchan has already been a guest on Sharma`s comedy show.

This is one of the best reunions in the history of Indian television. Sunil Grover is back on Kapil Sharma’s ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ with élan.

The actor, who earlier played Gutthi on the show is now essaying the role of Bittu aka Kapil’s father-in-law.

The episode that featured Grover as Kapil’s Pa-in-law was aired Sunday night.

Grover had reportedly quit the show earlier as he wasn’t happy with his remuneration. He was then roped in by a rival channel for a comedy show titled ‘Mad In India’ which failed to impress the audiences. The show saw a premature closure.Both Kapil and Sunil seem to have let bygones be bygones.

The most celebrated comedy show of the small screen `Comedy Nights With Kapil` will complete 100 episodes today. The first episode of the show was aired on June 22, 2013.

Now Sunil Grover to play Kapil Sharma`s father-in-law

Sunil Grover, whose popularity went several notches higher when he essayed the drag act of Guthhi on `Comedy Nights with Kapil`, is now back on the show. This time, Sunil will be seen as a stubborn and obnoxious father-in-law to the show`s lead Kapil Sharma.

Sunil left the hugely appreciated show to start a new show independently, but his `Mad In India` didn`t work in his favour. He is now back on `Comedy Nights With Kapil` to raise the humour quotient as the father of Manju, a role played by actress Sumona Chakravarty.

He was visibly excited to join hands with the cast and crew of `Comedy Nights With Kapil`, said a source.

“The viewers will see Sunil as the stubborn and obnoxious father-in-law of Bitto Sharma (Kapil). Bitto Sharma keeps on ridiculing and deriding Manju’s father all the time. This time it’s Manju’s turn to even the score with Bitto with her father by her side.

"He’ll do insufferable things like - keep his torn slippers in his bag and throw it at Bittoo, spit in his own shirt pocket,” the source added.

Sunil recently shot with the entire cast of `Comedy Nights With Kapil`. The viewers will see them in a hilarious gag in the episodes to be aired Saturday and Sunday.

He will enter the show with a chained iron trunk in his hand and a `jhola` on his shoulder.
