Kapil Sharma-Ajaz Khan spat comes out in public

The king of comedy, Kapil Sharma has had to face a lot of flak for his name getting involved in several controversies. Last he found himself embroiled in one, was with the Bhojpuri actor-producer Kamaal Rashid Khan on micro-blogging site Twitter. This time however, it is with another Khan, the famous `ek-number` man from Bigg Boss season 7, Ajaz Khan.

Earlier, Ajaz had expressed his displeasure over an episode that he shot for Kapil`s show, `Comedy Nights With Kapil`, which never got telecast on the channel. The news has again popped up in the media. According to a leading daily, Ajaz and Kapil came face-to-face at a music launch event, where the former spoke about how he feels cheated by the comedian and asked why his episode was not shown.

The video was shown in a news channel, following which the entire spat came out in public. In the video, Kapil is seen pacifying the actor, saying we will figure it out soon and it`s the channel`s call to air the episode, not mine. However, Ajaz refused to stop at that. Later, the two tried to resolve the issue by talking it out in a private space.

Now, whether this public confrontation by Ajaz, would compel the channel to air his episode or not, remains to be seen.

Amitabh Bachchan-Kapil Sharma- Awesome Twosome

What do you expect when Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and superstar comedian Kapil Sharma join forces on the stage? Entertainment, entertainment and entertainment!

Their chemistry was crackling! Their barbs were hilarious! And their oneliners literally bowled over the audience assembled here for the mega launch of the eighth season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, to go on air Aug 17.

From taking potshots at each other to trading light-hearted barbs - both of them put their funny sides foremost and cracked up the audience Saturday at the jam-packed Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre, which has a seating capacity of about 7,000.

The two, now described as the titans of Indian television -- Big B for his over 14-year successful stint with KBC, and Kapil for entertaining with his hit show ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ -- were so enthralling that the audience stayed glued to their seats for over five hours.

In fact, high points were aplenty!

But the highest was when Big B, marvelling at Kapil’s humour, turned to the comedian’s mom sitting in the audience and asked: ‘Aaj main bhi aap se poochna chahta hoon ki aapne kya kha ke isse paida kiya tha?’

‘Daal-phulka,’ pat came Kapil’s mom`s response and had the people in splits, and she then told Big B that his father had a good sense of humour and he has inherited it from him.

Another funny moment was when Kapil’s single status was enquired about and he turned the table by requesting Big B and saying: “Would you please be kind enough to take my proposal to actress Deepika Padukone?"

They complemented each other on the stage and their fans were delighted to see them letting their hair down, especially 71-year-old Bachchan, who was in full form.

From shaking his leg to cracking jokes, Amitabh, known for organising stage shows abroad during his prime, was admirable in every sense of the word.

Kapil admitted being jittery about teaming up with Amitabh, but praised him for “giving space” and added: “This is my third time with Bachchan saab and whenever I work with him, I feel blessed.”

Kapil, who also took the hot seat for a dummy round, said his father was a fan of KBC and he used to watch the game show with him.

The ace comedian got emotional too.

“My mother was sitting in the audience and I got emotional, but then I thought I have come here to entertain people....”

Often seen in his serious avatar, Big B was a treat to watch and Kapil, known for his gift of the gab, heightened the fun with his presence.

When Amitabh Bachchan thanked Kapil Sharma

Kapil Sharma has all the reasons to be on cloud nine! The star comedian was mentioned by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter.

The megastar took to the micro-blogging site to thank Sharma for being a part of his TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and making it look incredible.

Bachchan tweeted:

The veteran has been the face of a quiz show titled- ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ for quite a few years while Sharma, who has now become the ultimate king of comedy produces and hosts a super-hit programme- ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’.

Both these personalities have their unique charm and it would have been certainly a moment to cherish for the duo when they met on the sets of KBC season 8.

Bachchan had earlier made an appearance on Kapil’s CNWK to promote his film ‘Bhoothnath Returns’.

And now it would be interesting to see what the two have in store for us now.

Kapil Sharma to make 'Comedy Nights' weekly

Kapil Sharma, who recently dropped out of Yash Raj Films' 'Bank Chor', is planning to make his popular TV show 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' weekly in order to concentrate on his movie outings.

The bi-weekly show, features Bollywood celebrities promoting their films besides the funny antics of other members on the show.

"I had many film offers and I could not do them because I felt that this show is my priority. It has made me a household name in such a short span of time. But being an artiste I get maximum satisfaction when I do diverse work.

"If I keep the show bi-weekly, I will not be able to do films. I will try to do the show once-a-week so that I can manage my dates with film shoots," Kapil told reporters here.

Recently the show completed its 100th episode and Kapil said he never expected that the show will run for such a long time.

"It is a surreal feeling for me. My contract was for 24 episodes initially. When I was shooting these episodes then the channel people asked me to increase eight episodes more. When I got good rating in the first episode then they asked me to make it 50. After three back-to-back high ratings they asked me to make 100 episodes. Now they say make as much as you can," he said.

The comic show also marked the return of loved character Gutthi, played by Sunil Grover, after the actor left the show last year.

"When Sunil was not part of the show people used to ask me why he isn't there and now again people ask why he is back. Sunil is my favourite and it is good that he came back to the show. It will be fun now. All my characters on the show are brilliant be it dadi, palak or my biwi," he said.

Kapil, 33, was here to be a guest at the grand premiere of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 8'. Hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, this was the first time that the quiz show has travelled to Surat, Gujarat.

"It is the third time that I got a chance to work with Mr Bachchan... But everytime it feels like the first time. He has his own aura. I feel blessed to share the stage with him. I was hesitant initially but he gives complete space to the other person," he added.

Initial contract was of 26 episodes: Kapil on `Comedy Nights'

The hugely-popular `Comedy Nights With Kapil` has completed 100 episodes and the show’s host-producer Kapil Sharma says that initially he was asked to do only 26 episodes.

The comedy show, which went on air in June 2013, gives a distinctive take on the everyday life of a common man as the show explores the story of every household and how the show’s common man played by Kapil is affected by the simplest issues in life around him.

“The initial contract was of 26 episodes. When the shooting started, the channel thought of extending it to 36. When I shot two to three episodes, they told me let’s make it 50. After it went on air and seeing the response, they said let’s make it 100 and after 10 episodes, they told me to do as many as high up,” Kapil told reporters here in a group interaction during the launch of “Kaun Banega Crorepati 8”.

The show, which also featured Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Karisma Kapoor, consists of actors like Sumona Chakravarti, Ali Asgar and Upasana Singh.

Comedian Sunil Grover, who quit the show last year, has again joined back and Kapil is happy. He added: “When you work with good artists, it’s good.”

Kapil is delighted with the positive response for his show, but he would like to act in movies too.

“People do 250 films, still nobody knows their name. I am fortunate that people know me and this is all because of the show. As an artist, I would like to grow, so I am trying to balance the show and my movie assignments,” said Kapil, who was slated to make his Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films` `Bank Chor` but is now more of the project.

It`s like coming home: Sunil Grover

Sunil Grover says that re-entering `Comedy Nights With Kapil` is like coming home and collaborating with its host Kapil Sharma was like reuniting with an old friend.

The stand-up comedian, who quit the show last year and has made a fresh entry as Bittoo Sharma`s father-in-law, talks at length about his comeback and his new avatar.

Excerpts from the interview:

Q: You are back on "Comedy Nights With Kapil"?

A: Yes, we recorded my re-entry, if we can call it that, on Wednesday night. I had eaten the auspicious dahi-chini (curd and sugar) before leaving for the shooting. It was like coming home. But of course I was nervous.

Q: How did the audience react?

A: The audience broke into spontaneous applause. I felt very, very welcomed.

Q: How did Kapil welcome you?

A: We have been in touch all through the period when I was away from "Comedy Nights With Kapil". He welcomed me very warmly. Rather, I welcomed him, since I reached the set before he did. He came 15 minutes me. When I saw him, I said, "Welcome to `Comedy Nights With Kapil`." We sat together laughing, sharing jokes, chatting in-between shots.

Q: This sounds like being too good to be true?

A: In fact, it felt as though I had never left the show. The period in-between simply evaporated. I met Kapil like two friends who pick up the threads of their relationship after some time. He was very warm(gets emotional). Kapil is a sensible, decent man. We share a terrific chemistry. The minute we see one another we smile at one another.

Q: Why do you feel your re-entry may not be called a re-entry?

A: Because I never felt I had gone away. The `Comedy Nights...` team has been and always will be a part of me. I may have gone away for a while. But I was never far away.

Q: What would your re-entry be like?

A: I`m playing Kapil`s father-in-law, to begin with. We`ll see how the audience reacts to that character and then take it up from there. If you`re hinting at a formal re-introduction, I don`t think that`s needed. How they bring me back into the show is the channel - Colors` call.

Q: How do you feel about the show "Mad In India"?

A: When I did that show, I didn`t do it with the intention to be one-up on `Comedy Nights With Kapil`. I got the offer after I left `Comedy Nights With Kapil`. I keep saying, `Comedy Nights...` was not and is not a `Gutthi Show` or a Sunil Grover Show. I am part of an ensemble cast. The show existed before me. It will go on after me.

Q: Why do you think "Mad In India" failed?

A: There are many reasons why a show fails. I worked hard on the show. But no point in brooding over the it. It`s time to move on.

Q: How much time will you devote to "Comedy Nights..."?

A: I am now fully into the show. It will take up a lot of my time. And if Gutthi comes back, it will be even more time-consuming. She is a very demanding girl.I tell you!
